You need a webspace account to be able to use your page. You may have some webspace at your internet service provider. If not, find a host in the free hosts resource listings elsewhere on this site. Open an account there before you do anything else. Note down the data for your account. Please be aware it may take some time for your account to become active.
You may want to use images in your page. You need to upload them to your webspace provider before you can use them. How to upload files is described in the publishing page in the html tutorial. Make sure you upload all images you may want to use.
You will also need to upload the images that come with the template you are using in the page wizard. Please unzip the images before uploading them.
The basic, blue bars, purple, orange templates don't use graphics.
Fill out form
Fill out the page wizard form. If you are familiar with html you can use it here. However, no html knowledge is required to use the page wizard.
For the images you need to use a full url. URL is short for Uniform Resource Locator. Every document (resource) on the internet is identified by its own unique code. At the top of your browser there is a little window, called 'location'. In this window you can see the URL for the web page you are viewing right now. Images will have a similar URL, but with a .GIF or .JPG extension, instead of .HTML, which is for web pages. The image urls to use will be something like "http://www.yourprovider.com/youracccount/image.jpg".
Press the "view page" button to preview your page. If you want to change anyting, go back to the form, using the "back" button of your browser. Go back and forth untill you are satisfied with the result.
Press the "save page" button to save your page. The data will be saved on your computer in a cookie. No data will be stored at the weballey server. Make sure you have cookies enabled in your browser. Next time you visit the page wizard, your data should be loaded automatically.
You can now download your page by pressing the "download" button at the bottom of the page wizard form.. Alternatively you may e-mail to yourself by entering your e-mail address and pressing the send button at the bottom of the page wizard form.. Please make sure you use a valid e-mail address, otherwise the page will get lost.
Now it's time to upload your page to your webspace provider. How to upload files is described in the publishing page in the html tutorial.
After you uploaded the page, you should be able to view it in your browser. You'd probably better open a new browser window. Otherwise the page wizard data may get lost. Use the url you got when creating a webspace account. This url will probably be something like "http://www.yourprovider.com/youracccount/" Fill this out in the location window of your browser and press enter. You'd probably better open a new browser window. Otherwise the page wizard data may get lost.
If your page does not look the way you imagined it would, please edit the page in the page wizard. Press 'save page' again to save your changes.
You may want to change your page at a later stage. Normally your data should be loaded if you saved them earlier. If not you can load the page in Netscape composer or Frontpage Express. Both come with your browser. You may also decide to learn proper html and edit it with a html editor. Afterwards save the page, and upload it again to your webspace provider.
Thank you for using the WEBalley Page Wizard. If you have any questions, please read the instructions, before e-mailing me.
